Advisory Board on Disability Affairs Meeting of July 3, 2019.

University of Miami - NSU CARD - Ms. Silvia Gil

Ms. Gil addressed Board regarding initiative offered by University of Miami NSU CARD - Autism Friendly which aids entities that would like to participate and achieve Autism Friendly certification. 

Ms. Gil advised it is a free service and has three distinct levels of certification.  Board members expressed interest in the City of Coral Gables participating in initiative and suggested Ms. Gil address

the Chamber of Commerce as well. 

 

Board determined it would be best next meeting to be shceduled for Wednesday, August 14, 2019.

 

Adventure Day - October 12, 2019

Ms. Elejabarrieta advised Board upon further review it was determined due to other scheduled City events requiring amble time to set up such as pumpkin patch and holiday park, it would be best for

Adventure Day event to be held on October 12, 2019.

 

Business Inclusion Award Application

Ms. Elejabarrieta presented application to Board (Exhibit 2) as well as advised staff is working on assuring application is accessibly by screen readers and should go live by Friday via City web site. 

Ms. Elejabarrieta will forward same to Board members.   Mr. Sando expressed concern regarding deadline of July 26, 2019 and if possible to extend this by some time. 

 

Supper Club - Ms. Debbie Dietz

Mr. Sando stated there were 35 attendees at the last event.  Ms. Dietz stated it was amazing.  Ms. Dietz advised during July there is no event and advised next one will take place in August.

 

Ms. Paola Villanueva - CILSF

Ms. Villanueva advised Board of last Money Management Class being held in City which consisted of ten participants.  Ms. Villanueva stated due to the wonderful reception to this program, there is

a possibility it will be conducted again.
