A Resolution authorizing a Change Order to the Historical Plazas and Entrances Restoration and Renovation contract with Red Door Construction LLC, pursuant to Section 2-829, entitled "Approval of Change Order and Contract Modifications," in the amount of $175,000.00, for additional work required beyond the scope of the original construction contract, including structural repairs at the Granada Entrance, additional metal work at Columbus Plaza and point of service modifications for proposed city-owned LED lighting, that will replace the prior lighting systems.

Body

On June 14th, 2016, the City Commission approved the construction contract award to Red Door Construction LLC in the amount of $1,625,784.00 for the Historical Plazas and Entrances Restoration and Renovation project.

This project consisted of the historical level restoration and renovation of Historical Plazas and Entrances located at Granada Plaza, Granada Entrance, Balboa Plaza, Segovia Plaza, Commercial Entrance, Ponce de Leon Plaza and Columbus Plaza.

The following modifications to the contract are required to address unforeseen conditions:

Replacement of roof joist deteriorated due to insect (termites) damage at Granada Entrance. Circumstances discovered during work, when the structure became accessible for inspection.

Additional metal work required at Columbus Plaza, due to unforeseen ficus hedge damage to components of the historical wall.

Point of service modifications for proposed city-owned LED lights required by FPL and reviewed by the city’s authority having jurisdiction.

The project team has worked collaboratively to negotiate fair pricing for the changes to the project included in this change order totaling $175,000.00.
