Arts Advisory Panel Meeting of November 10, 2021.

NEW BUSINESS:
a. 427 BILTMORE WAY - CITY PROJECT
The Panel was provided with copies of the architectural rendering and landscape drawings for the current construction/renovation of the City’s building at 427 Biltmore Way. They were advised of the City Commission’s Resolution at the last Commission meeting to combine the Art in Public Places fees allocated for this building, Minorca Garage, Fire Station 4, and the Fink Studio, with the intent of applying the fees toward one significant sculpture on site. It was further noted that the Mayor stated he has an artist in mind to consider for this opportunity.

b. MOBILITY HUB - CITY PROJECT
Christian Fortuno, Shamim Ahmadzadegar, Carmen Olazabal, and Sergio Bakas joined the meeting via Zoom as representatives of the consultant, Gensler, for the City’s Mobility Hub construction project at 245 Andalusia Ave. The City’s Project Manager, Sherry Shu Zhang, joined the meeting in person. The Gensler team addressed the Panel and presented a PowerPoint presentation to discuss the project overall and opportunities currently proposed for public art activation.

ART IN PUBLIC PLACES UPDATES:
The Panel was advised that the Art Basel VIP event is proceeding in celebration of the re-installation of Kiki Smith’s “Blue Night”.
CITY COMMISSION ITEMS:
The Panel was advised of the Commission Resolution combining Art in Public Places fees for the 427 Biltmore Way renovation, Minorca Garage, Fire Station 4, and the Fink Studio projects, noting that there would not be art placed at the Minorca Garage or Fire Station 4. The Panel was further notified of the passing on second reading of the Art in Public Places Ordinance amendment.
