Title

A Resolution of the City Commission approving the concept of installing artwork and using a direct selection of an artist as the selection method for future artwork at 427 Biltmore Way.

Body

The 427 Biltmore Way, City-owned building project meets the requirement of contributing to the Art in Public Places program of the City of Coral Gables.

On November 9, 2021 the City Commission approved Resolution 2021-332 combining Art in Public Places fees from certain projects, including 427 Biltmore Way, to be used toward a future art installation. It was determined that the new courtyard at 427 Biltmore Way would be an appropriate site for the installation of art and use of the combined Art in Public Places fees.

Per the City of Coral Gables Art in Public Places Program: Funding, Goals and Implementation Guidelines, staff recommends the direct selection of an artist for public art at 427 Biltmore Way.

A recommendation for approval of the artist and artwork will be brought to the City Commission as a separate resolution.
