A Resolution of the City Commission accepting a recommendation of the City Manager to waive the competitive process of the Procurement Code for the purchase a total of four sanitary submersible pumps for Sanitary Pump Station Prospect and spare use from Xylem Water Solutions Inc. as a “Sole Source Procurement”, pursuant to Section 2-689 of the City’s Procurement Code.
Body
The two (2) submersible pumps at City’s Sanitary Sewer Prospect, located at 70 Prospect Drive, need replacement due to their expired useful life. In addition, the City is required to maintain spare pumps and equipment in order to comply with the Pump Station Operation and Maintenance Program, as per Miami-Dade Code Section 24-42.2(13).
These pumps are an essential component of City’s Sanitary Distribution System that are specifically designed to operate within parameters which are unique to that station. The pumps requiring replacement at Sanitary Pump Station Prospect are two (2) Flygt 3HP Model NP-3085.070 and the spare pumps are two (2) Flygt HP Model NP-3102.070. The total replacement cost for these pumps is $31,422.90. Any other brand will result in additional cost for design and other changes to the pump station system that would not be in the best interest of the City.
Xylem Water Solutions Company USA, Inc.is the exclusive supplier of Flygt Products for the State of Florida.
Under Section 2-689 of the Procurement Code, entitled “Sole Source Procurement,” an award may be made without competitive bids when there is only one source available to fulfill the needs of the City.
