MINUTES FROM DECEMBER 16, 2021 MEETING

 

A motion to approve was made by Mr. Fullerton and seconded by Ms. Spain.

 

The motion passed (Ayes:7; Nays: 0), Mr. Menendez and Mr. Durana were absent.

 

EXCUSE ABSENT BOARD MEMBERS

 

A motion to excuse Mr. Durana and Mr. Menendez was made by Ms. Spain and seconded by Ms. Bache-Wiig.

 

The motion passed (Ayes:6; Nays: 0) Mr. Ehrenhaft did not affirm nor disagree.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS:

CASE FILE COA (ST) 2015-007 REVISED: An application for a revision to a previously issued Special Certificate of Appropriateness for the property at 936 Castile Avenue, a Contributing Resource within the “Castile Avenue / Plaza Historic District,” legally described as Lot 8, Peacock Re-Subdivision, according to the Plat thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 35, at Page 60 of the Public Records of Miami-Dade County, Florida.  The application requesting design approval for an addition and alterations to the residence and sitework was approved on August 20, 2015. This revision requests design approval for as-built deviations from the previously approved plans.

 

A motion was made by Mr. Fullerton and seconded by Mr. Rodriguez to defer this item to the next meeting at the request of the applicant.                       

 

The motion passed (Ayes:7; Nays: 0).

 

LOCAL HISTORIC DESIGNATION:

CASE FILE LHD 2020-009: Consideration of the local historic designation of the property at 2214 Segovia Circle, legally described as Lot 11 and the Northwesterly 30 Feet of Lot 12, Block 22, Coral Gables Section “B,” according to the Plat thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 5, at Page 111 of the Public Records of Miami-Dade County, Florida.

 

A motion was made by Ms. Spain and seconded by Ms. Rolando to approve the designation based on its historical, cultural, and architectural significance.

 

The motion passed (Ayes:7; Nays: 0).

 

SPECIAL CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS:

CASE FILE COA (SP) 2018-008 REVISED: An application for a revision to a previously issued Special Certificate of Appropriateness for the property at 4412 Santa Maria Street, a Contributing Resource within the “Santa Maria Street Historic District,” legally described as the South 15 Feet of Lot 22 and All of Lot 23 and Lot 24 Less South 15 Feet, Block 93, Coral Gables Country Club Section Part Five, as recorded in Plat Book 23, Page 55, of the Public Records of Miami-Dade County, Florida. The application requesting design approval for additions and alterations to the residence and sitework was approved with conditions on June 21, 2018. This revision requests design approval for alterations to the front perimeter fence.

 

A motion was made by Mr. Fullerton and seconded by Mr. Rodriguez to approve the Special Certificate of Appropriateness with the drawings on Page A-01.2 with an amendment that the northernmost column is maximum of four feet. 

 

The motion passed (Ayes:5; Nays: 2). 

 

DISCUSSION ITEM:

 

Ms. Kautz requested direction regarding the removal of an original decorative urn on the property at 525 Alhambra Circle.  She had rejected the permit after the urn was not replaced.  After some discussion, the board recommended closing out the permit with no urn replacement and when the opportunity arises the homeowner could replace it with a similar urn which would be done with the staff administratively.

 

ITEMS FROM THE SECRETARY:

                     Introduction of the new Director of Historic Preservation and Cultural Arts, but time did not permit him to speak about himself, and he would do so at the next meeting.

                                          Illuminate Coral Gables displays are up and running throughout downtown

                     The Fink Studio groundbreaking has occurred, and the City is hoping to have the Economic Development Department in that building by late summer.

                     There is a public meeting held for the presentation of the Granada Golf Shelter, via Zoom, it will be a public meeting for anyone who was interested.

 

A motion was made by Ms. Spain and seconded by Mr. Rodriguez to adjourn the meeting.

 

                     The meeting was adjourned at 6:32 pm.
