Title

A Resolution of the City Commission accepting a recommendation of the City Manager to waive the competitive process of the Procurement Code for the purchase of a Stormwater Pumps for Pump Station No. 4 from Barney’s Pumps Inc. as a “Sole Source Procurement”, pursuant to Section 2-689 of the City’s Procurement Code.

Body

The pumps at City’s Storm Pump Station No. 4, located at 3940 Granada Boulevard, need replacement due to their expired useful life.

These pumps are an essential component of City’s Storm System that are specifically designed to operate within parameters which are unique to that station. The pumps that require replacement are a 14AP Axial Flow Cascade Pump Company brand and must be replaced in-kind with the same brand. The replacement cost for these pumps is $82,647.40.  Any other brand will result in additional cost for design and other changes to the pump station system that would not be in the best interest of the City.

Barney’s Pumps, Inc.is the exclusive supplier of Cascade Pump Company for the State of Florida.

Under Section 2-689 of the Procurement Code, entitled “Sole Source Procurement,” an award may be made without competitive bids when there is only one source available to fulfill the needs of the City.
