A Resolution accepting the recommendation to authorize the purchase of equipment for the Fire Department from Steiner-Atlantic Corp. as a “Sole Source Procurement,” pursuant to Section 2-689 of the City’s Procurement Code.

The Fire Department needs turnout washer/extractors and turnout gear drying cabinets to be purchased and installed in Fire Station 1 and Fire Station 3. The washer/extractor and gear drying cabinet will enable on duty personnel to wash and dry their turnout gear immediately post fire incident. The Milnor 60 lb capacity ridged mount washer/extractor with “Gear Guardian” EP Express uses a specialized cleaning and processing of turnout gear, gloves and protective hoods. The same units were purchased for the remodel project of Fire Station 2 and the purchase for Stations 1 and 3 will maintain the consistency of equipment within all Fire Stations giving all personnel the ability of decontaminating their turnout gear. The cost for the purchase of this equipment totals $49,496.
Steiner-Atlantic Corp. is the sole source authorized distributor and full line equipment sales and service for the Milnor gear dryer and extractor.
Under Section 2-689 of the Procurement Code, entitled “Sole Source Procurement,” an award may be made without competitive bids when there is only one source available to fulfill the needs of the City.
