Title

A Resolution of the City Commission of Coral Gables, Florida, amending Ordinance 2015-17, as amended, to revise various Local Business Tax classifications, as provided for under Chapter 205.0535 of the Florida Statutes; providing severability clause, and an effective date.

Body

On June 16, 2015, the City Commission adopted Ordinance 2015-17 that restated and amended city-wide fees, licenses, permits, services and penalties. Since that time, the City has made periodic updates, which are reflected in this updated Fee Schedule.

The City is transitioning to a new software system, Energov, to track property-based customer accounts, including Local Business Taxes. In order to simplify the accounting and processing of Local Business Taxes, elimination of unused classifications and simplification of categories and classifications were considered necessary. Additionally, the classification of Office Center is being added to account for new types of businesses in our City, and the classification of Pharmacies and Drug Stores is being added to better account for this type of business. Otherwise, Local Business Tax rates are not being changed with this revision.  The changes are in effect for Fiscal Year 2021 beginning October 1, 2020, however bills issued in July 2020 for the 2021 Fiscal Year will reflect these new classifications and revisions.
