Title

A Resolution authorizing change orders to services in support of the “Fire Station 2 Addition and Renovation and New Trolley Maintenance Building” project with Link Construction Group, Inc., and AECOM Technical Services Inc., pursuant to Section 2-764(b), Approval of Change Orders and Contract Modifications, for a total amount of $901,660.

Body

On February 27, 2018 the City Commission accepted the recommendation to award the Design-Build Services for the Fire Station No. 2 Addition/Renovations and New Trolley Maintenance Building (“the Project”) to Link Construction Group, Inc.

Link Construction Group’s change order in the amount of $865,000 entails functional changes to the design of the building, as well as costs associated with requests from the authorities having jurisdiction that took place after the contract was executed with Link Construction Group.  This includes the following:

•                     Various user departments requested changes to improve functionality.

•                     The original plan to energize the buildings from the existing overhead power lines just north of the property line was rejected by FPL. Instead, FPL requested a concrete encased duct bank with the respective manhole structures running through the entire property from east to west.

•                     Installation of a fully fire sprinklered Trolley Building to avoid WASD’s request to replace the existing water main.

•                     The City’s decision to incorporate a fully functioning backup PSAP in the second floor of the Trolley building. This added scope includes new revised plans plus all the associated construction costs.

•                     In order to provide a larger training area between the Fire Station addition and the Trolley building requested by the Fire Department, the existing egress driveway to Ponce de Leon Blvd., that was to remain, had to be removed and a new driveway constructed farther to the east.
