Battalion Chief Gilberto Hernandez has been selected as the “2019 Firefighter of the Year” for his act of concern and consideration in dealing with the public, fellow employees, and supervisors. Specifically, for his courageous actions while rendering aid to victims of an accident. His heroic response shows that he takes his oath to protect people very seriously and his sense of duty is evident whether he is on or off the clock.
We thank Battalion Chief Gilberto Hernandez for representing the Coral Gables Fire Department and the City of Coral Gables so admirably and for making us proud.
