Title

A Resolution approving updates to the annual Cultural Grant Process. (Recommended by the Cultural Development Board Approva/Denial vote: 5 to 1).

Body

The Cultural Development Board meets annually to assess Cultural Grant guidelines, application, and process from the previous year with the purpose of recommending updates that are then incorporated into the next grant cycle. This year, the Cultural Development Board thoroughly reviewed the structure of the grant process and agreed on the following recommendations.

The Board encourages greater oversight of the grant application process and recommends a formal correction period by staff to ensure completion of all forms and requested information prior to the final grant submission and deadline.

The Cultural Grant guidelines, application, and related forms reflect minor updates to ensure understanding and accountability.

Considering the benefits of timely distribution of grant funds to coincide with the beginning of the arts programing season and the City’s budget approval process; and after review of similar state, regional, and municipal grant programs, the Board recommends moving the cultural grant process earlier.

The annual grant workshop, application deadline, scores and distribution recommendation, and City Commission approval would be complete by summer, with actual funds approved in sync with final approval of the fiscal year budget.

The Cultural Development Board respectfully requests implementing these updates as soon as possible.
