Title

A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Coral Gables, Florida, allowing the City Manager additional time to negotiate a Purchase and Sale Agreement with Doctor’s Hospital, Inc., for the sale of Municipal Parking Lot 24 located on the northwest corner of University Drive and Pisano Avenue, Coral Gables, Florida, with Miami-Dade County Parcel Identification Number 03-4119-006-0200.

Body

On September 10, 2019, the City Manager provided to the City Commission an update on negotiations with Doctor’s Hospital, Inc. (the “Hospital”) that were engaged upon in accordance with the terms in Ordinance 2019-11 (As Amended) and Resolution 2018-223 as amended by Resolution 2019-13.

At the September 10, 2019 City Commission meeting, the City Commission directed the City Manager to provide to the Hospital the Purchase and Sale Agreement approved in Ordinance 2019-11 (As Amended) with certain changes and directed that the Purchase and Sale Agreement be signed prior to October 8, 2019 or the City Manager was to take the matter back to the City Commission for further direction.

At the October 8, 2019 City Commission meeting, after sending a good-faith proposal, the Hospital requested that the City Commission extend the deadline to November 12, 2019, which the City Commission did via Resolution 2019-302.

At the November 12, 2019 City Commission meeting, the City Commission extended the deadline to January 14, 2020 after hearing that the Hospital and the City Manager had been working diligently toward finalizing a Purchase and Sale and Lease Agreement.

Since November 12th negotiations have continued, and certain challenges have come to light that will take significant time to resolve.  Therefore, the City Manager is requesting that the City Commission grant additional time, without a set deadline, for negotiations with the Hospital regarding the sale of Municipal Parking Lot 24 and/or abutting rights-of-way and/or the lease of said rights-of-way.
