A Resolution accepting the recommendation to waive the competitive process of the procurement code to award contract to John Bell Construction, Inc. in the amount of $179,677 for Venetian Pool’s floor surface and in-water metal painting, pursuant to Section 2-691, special procurement / bid waiver of the City’s Procurement Code.

On November 15, 2019, a request for quotes from Contract RTQ 2017.02.MS General and Specialty Trade Contractors Services prequalified contractors was initiated for labor and material of the Venetian Pool’s floor surface and in-water metal painting.
On December 13, 2019, four quotes were received. The lowest priced bidder was John Bell Construction, Inc. at $179,677, including an owner’s contingency of $29,417.
In order to expedite this project and be ready for Venetian Pool’s reopening on March 1, 2020, Public Works Department recommends approval of this request award that exceeds their authority under the pool contract.
