A Resolution accepting a grant for financial assistance in the amount of $45,000 from the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) for engineering services to improve an area of the existing sewer collection system and authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with FDEM for said financial assistance under FDEM Project No. 4337-330-R; and authorizing an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 annual budget to recognize the grant funds as revenue and to appropriate such funds to cover the cost of the grant expenditures.

The sewer collection system in the area of Alcazar Avenue between Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Galiano Street between Alhambra Plaza and Majorca Avenue needs improvement. These improvements will ensure proper capacity for existing users and possible future developments. The project will consist of two phases: Phase I, design and Phase II, construction.
This FDEM grant, Phase I, includes the surveying, engineering, design, plans preparation, permitting and bidding for the proposed project in preparation for construction. Upon completion of Phase I, execution of a grant for Phase II will follow to assist with the construction of sewer improvements to the aforementioned area.
The City of Coral Gables requested financial assistance in order to begin this project’s design phase. Consequently, the Florida Division of Emergency Management agreed to provide financial assistance in the amount of $45,000, representing 75% of the design phase’s cost. The City’s contribution will be 25% for a total of $15,000.
In order to receive said financial assistance, the City must enter into an agreement with the Florida Division of Emergency Management.
