A Resolution accepting the recommendation of the Procurement Officer to waive the competitive bid process of the Procurement Code and contract with Patterson Pope, Inc., for the purchase and installation of specialized shelving and storage fixtures for the new Public Safety Building as a “Special Procurement/Bid Waiver,” pursuant to Sections 2-585 and 2-691 of the City’s Procurement Code.

The City of Coral Gables is currently constructing a new Public Safety Building (PSB) that is scheduled to open in September 2020 and will house the following departments: Fire, Police, Information Technology and Coral Gables TV.
The Police Department’s Property & Evidence Section requires specialized shelving and storage fixtures for the General Evidence area that is in compliance with state and federal requirements for evidence storage and maintenance. Items to be stored in this area include general, bulk and high-risk evidence.
The Architectural firm engaged to assist with the design of the new Public Safety Building used Patterson Pope, Inc. for the basis of design for the General Evidence area that requires this specialized and secured shelving. Patterson Pope, Inc. has an extensive history outfitting property rooms for police departments for the State of Florida and the southeast region of North America.
The customized shelving and storage equipment selected for the General Evidence area is known as Spacesaver. Patterson Pope, Inc. is the only authorized, trained and certified vendor to conduct Spacesaver work in the State of Florida. In addition, the design outlined by Patterson Pope, Inc. provides the Police Department with a technologically advanced, innovative and secure General Evidence area that will allow the Property & Evidence Section to conduct its operations with added confidence and efficiency.
