Congratulations to Firefighter Juan Pineiro, recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Firefighter of the Month Award,” for the month of July 2019.

Body

Firefighter Juan Pineiro, has been selected July’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations. On August 24^th Juan was cycling on the Black Creek Trail in South Dade. He came upon a group from Everglades Bicycle Club which was stopped after a number of riders went down on a muddy portion of the trail. One of the down cyclists, a female could not move. Juan along with a paramedic from Miami Dade County Fire Department who was cycling with the group quickly assessed the extent of the cyclist’s injuries and assisted in calling for help. While waiting Juan calmed the injured cyclist and gave aid. Once Fire Rescue arrived, Juan was able to expedite the injury evaluation. The cyclist was taken to Jackson South with what appeared to be a dislocated shoulder.

Firefighter Pineiro is well deserving of this honor and we congratulate him for his efforts.
