Cultural Development Board Meeting of March 20, 2019.

Note: A special meeting was called to make a recommendation for Giralda Sky public art. Prior to the meeting, Board members were provided on-line access to the thirty-six (36) responsive proposal applications and reviewed them in their entirety.

 

Ms. Cathers presented the meeting minutes of the Giralda Sky Selection Panel and read aloud the Panel’s recommending motions. Board members were given a summary sheet with the artists’ name and proposed artwork title, description and medium. A scoring sheet was given to each panel member to mark for discussion purposes. All applicant images were projected and minor remarks were made during the presentation for clarity and to note feasibility of timeline, materials, and execution of the project.

 

A motion was made by Ms. Burgos recommending the proposal “Sun Stories” by Jessy Nite as the 2019 Giralda Sky public art installation as recommended by the Giralda Sky Selection Panel. Dr. Alvarez-Perez seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

 

A motion was made by Ms. Burgos recommending use of the art acquisition fund, up to $150,000, to be used toward the 2019 Giralda Sky public art project “Sun Stories” by Jessy Nite. Dr. Alvarez-Perez seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

 

A motion was made by Ms. Horwitz recommending artists: Donald Gialanella, Jessy Nite, Master Craftsman Studio, Rafael Domenech/Ernesto Oroza, Shiftspace, Roberto Rovira, Stefan Reiss, and Vanessa Till Hooper receive a $2,000 honorarium for their Giralda Sky proposals. Dr. Alvarez-Perez seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
