PERSONAL APPEARANCES:
a. PETER IGLESIAS, CITY MANAGER
City Manager Peter Iglesias was warmly welcomed by the Panel. He began by expressing the high level of interest and support by the City Commission of advancing the arts in Coral Gables, noting that it is a good time to move forward with cultural initiatives of the City.

OLD BUSINESS:
a. PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING - PUBLIC ART PROPOSALS
For informational purposes, Panel members were provided with copies of the new Public Safety Building public art proposals received to date. Members were advised that copies were given to City Commissioners, Police Chief Hudak and Fire Chief Barger. Staff advised that the proposals will be announced on E-News and presented to the public for comment prior to review by the selection Panel. Ms. Cathers noted that the Cultural Development Board (CDB) has nominated Leslie Pantin to sit on the Panel as the CDB representative. Once the Panel has met, she said, they will make a recommendation to the Cultural Development Board, which will then make a recommendation to the City Commission.

CITY COMMISSION ITEMS
a. CIFO DONATION - LOCATION RECOMMENDATIONS
The Panel was advised of the City Commission discussion regarding the proposed CIFO donated artwork by Fredy Alzate Gomez. Dr. Damian reviewed the Arts Advisory Panel and Cultural Development Board’s previous recommendations and stated that the Commission has requested that the Panel recommend locations and maintenance requirements for the artwork.

A motion was made by Mr. Brito to recommend that the proposed CIFO sculpture donation by Fredy Alzate Gomez be sited within an interior location on a raised platform to address material durability and security concerns. Mr. Kolasinski seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
