Title

A recommendation from the Sustainability Advisory Board, requesting that the City Commission increase the board’s membership from seven (7) members to nine (9) members, to include a representative from the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and the University of Miami.

Body

One of the roles of the Sustainability Advisory Board (SAB) is to work closely with the business community on educating and adopting sustainable practices. The City along with the SAB have partnered with the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and the University of Miami in the past in the development and implementation of the expanded polystyrene and plastic bag ordinances. In addition, the City, SAB and Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce have developed the Coral Gables Green Business Program with the expected launch of the program taking place on January 1, 2019. In addition, all entities will be partnering in the future to educate the residents, visitors and businesses on a “Skip the Straw” campaign.

The Sustainability Advisory Board requests that the City Commission increase the board membership from seven (7) to nine (9) to include a representative from the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and the University of Miami.
