Title

A Resolution authorizing a change order to the  “ Public Safety Building - Construction Manager at Risk (CMR)” contract RFQ 2017.06.YG  with The Weitz Company, LLC pursuant to Section 2-764 (b), Approval of Change Orders and Contract Modifications, in the amount of $132,187 to perform additional work  by conducting a test pile program. 

Body

On November 3, 2017, the City Commission approved a contract with The Weitz Company, LLC (Weitz) to perform Preconstruction services for the new Public Safety Building.

 

As part of their services, Weitz has been working with the City and AECOM, the City’s designated construction consulting firm, with performing value engineering, constructability reviews, and periodic cost estimates for the new building.

 

In preparation for the start of the foundation work of the building, it is necessary to perform pile load tests to confirm the pile design standards being used for the foundation design of the new facility.

 

Sections 3.1.3, Review Site Conditions, and Section 3.2, Additional Services, of the Agreement between The Weitz Company, LLC and the City authorizes Weitz to perform the test pile program.

 

Approval of this change order will allow the present project to continue as schedule and prevent in delays in the construction schedule.  In addition to the amount listed below, this item is requesting permission to move forward with any other work identified in this process in order to stay on track with delivering this construction project on schedule. 

 

Under Section 2-764(b) of the Procurement Code, the City Commission shall approve all change orders or contract modifications for construction.
