NEW BUSINESS:
a. CORAL GABLES PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING:
Ms. Cathers distributed scoring sheets for the Panel to reference during their discussion. She stated that some artists requested their submission be considered for the City’s list of pre-qualified artists. The Panel discussed briefly and agreed that due to the specific requests for this RFQ, a look at the full portfolio of the artist is not being reviewed and, therefore, is not appropriate for inclusion on the pre-qualified list.
b. PUBLIC ART WORKSHOP
Panel members received a copy of Commissioner Lago’s letter regarding Art in Public Places and discussed the upcoming Public Art Workshop. Ms. Spain stated that all commissioners have been invited and that it’s a sunshine meeting. The Panel asked about the purpose of the workshop and staff responded that it’s to discuss the current program and processes, especially as it pertains to pubic art in private development.
OLD BUSINESS:
Staff advised the Panel of the Commission approval of the public art in private development projects for Gables Station, Paseo de la Riviera, and the Merrick Park Hotel.
