Firefighter David Garcia has been selected October’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations, specifically for using his own resources, time and expertise to build a Bunker Gear Drying Machine at Fire Station 3. Firefighter Garcia showed a great deal of initiative by recognizing a need for such a machine and then following through with its construction. Firefighter Garcia researched on the internet and was able to build one saving the City money. This was a selfless act motivated only by his will to improve the way we conduct our daily business. His positive attitude, innovation, and willingness to help make him a valuable asset to the Coral Gables Fire Department.
