Deputy Fire Chief Hernandez has been selected September’s Firefighter of the Month for his meritorious display of job performance, specifically when he served as the Operations Chief for the Fire Department during Hurricane Irma. During the preparation, response, and recovery, Deputy Chief Hernandez coordinated and controlled Rescue Recon as well as Fire Department response. Chief Hernandez‘s exceptional planning, communication and coordination skills provided for an efficient, effective and coordinated response by Rescue Recon and the Fire Department as a whole. His dedication and attention to every facet of the response is to be recognized as a meritorious display of job performance.
