Officer Cristino Perez has been selected Officer of the Month for July 2017 for his exceptional work in the month of July. While working the burglary taskforce, and ALPR system, the system revealed an expired tag. Officer Perez subsequently stopped the defendant and was charged with DWLS and Expired Registration. Although these charges were minor, due to the defendant’s past, Officer Perez potentially stopped a crime from occurring.
While working an off-duty, Officer Perez encountered an elderly female who was choking on a piece of gum. Officer Perez was able to clear the airway and help the victim until Fire Rescue arrived.
Officer Perez was able to secure the scene of a crash involving a large box truck which collided with a tree. Officer Perez was able to keep the driver and rear passenger stable until Fire Rescue arrived.
While working the burglary taskforce, Officer Perez stopped a vehicle with an expired tag. A records check revealed the defendant with a suspended driver’s license and an extensive past - including burglary to residence.
