Congratulations to Battalion Chief Carla Rossby, recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Firefighter of the Month Award,” for the month of July 2017.

Battalion Chief Carla Rossby has been selected July’s Firefighter of the Month for her meritorious display of job performance, specifically for her exceptional actions during a structure fire in a multi-family apartment building. Initial reports by firefighters inside the involved apartment stated that the fire had extended into the attic, threatening the entire building. Chief Rossby immediately called for an offensive attack which included ventilation of the roof. Chief Rossby’s command and control of the incident prevented loss of life, injuries, and the total loss of the building and the homes of 9 families.
Chief Rossby’s knowledge and experience paid off once again. She is a very consistent and reliable Battalion Chief and very deserving of this award.
