A REQUEST FROM THE COCOPLUM WOMAN’S CLUB TO PLACE A HISTORIC MARKER ON THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1375 SUNSET DRIVE AND APPROVAL OF MARKER TEXT.

 

A motion to approve the marker, its location, and the text as presented was made and seconded. (Ayes: 7, Nays: 0)

 

LOCAL HISTORIC DESIGNATIONS:

CASE FILE LHD 2017-007: Consideration of the local historic designation of the property at 318 Viscaya Avenue, legally described as Lots 13, 14, and 15, Block 27, Coral Gables Coconut Grove Section 1, according to the Plat thereof, as recorded

in Plat Book 14, at Page 25 of the Public Records of Miami-Dade County, Florida.

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the local historic designation for the property at 318 Viscaya Avenue. (Ayes: 7, Nays: 0)

 

CASE FILE LHD 2017-008 and COA (SP) 2017-007: Consideration of the local historic designation of the property at 1109 Almeria Avenue, legally described as Lot 14, Block 16, Coral Gables Section “A,” according to the Plat thereof, as recorded in Plat

Book 5, at Page 102 of the Public Records of Miami-Dade County, Florida. The applicant is also requesting the issuance of an Accelerated Special Certificate of Appropriateness and design approval for an addition and alterations to the

residence and sitework.

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the local historic designation for the property at 1109 Almeria Avenue. (Ayes: 7, Nays: 0)

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the Special Certificate of Appropriateness for the property at 1109 Almeria Avenue subject to Staff conditions. (Ayes: 7, Nays: 0)

 

SPECIAL CERTIFICATES OF APPROPRIATENESS:

CASE FILE COA (SP) 2015-018 Continued: An application for the issuance of a Special Certificate of Appropriateness for the property 4730 Santa Maria Street, a contributing resource within the “Santa Maria Street Historic District,” legally described as

Lots 16 thru 23, Block 92, Coral Gables Country Club Section Five, according to the Plat thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 23, Page 55, of the Public Records of Miami-Dade County, Florida. The application requesting design approval for additions

and alterations to the residence was approved on January 8, 2016 with the condition that a detailed proposal for the fence, pavers, and landscaping needs to be presented to the Historic Preservation Board for approval.

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the Special Certificate of Appropriateness for 4730 Santa Maria Street excluding the fountain. (Ayes: 7, Nays: 0)

 

CASE FILE COA (ST) 2017-067: An application for the issuance of a Standard Certificate of Appropriateness for the property 814 Santiago Street, a contributing resource within the “Santiago Street Historic District,” legally described as the S ½ Lot 6 and

all of Lots 7 & 8, Block 2, Mariana Place, according to the Plat thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 9, at Page 111 of the Public Records of Miami-Dade County, Florida.  The application requests after-the-fact design approval for the installation of

a new front door. 

 

A motion was made and seconded to approve the installation of the front door for 814 Santiago Street. (Ayes: 7, Nays: 0)

 

ITEMS FROM THE SECRETARY:

CLG Workshop: Ms. Spain thanked Mr. Menendez for being the only Board member in attendance at the Certified Local Government Workshop and reported that it was a success with many preservationists from all over the state having attended.

 

Life and Art of Denman Fink Exhibit: Ms. Spain informed the Board of the Denman Fink exhibit at the Coral Gables Museum and encouraged Board members to attend.

 

Riding Academy and Bride Path Plaque Dedication: Ms. Spain invited the Board to attend the unveiling of the Riding Academy Plaque on June 6th at 11 a.m.

 

BOARD ITEMS:

Historic Landmark Plaques: Ms. Rolando inquired about the status of the plaques. It was relayed that since the order was increased to 50 plaques and the shipment was expected soon.

 

    Plazas and Entrances: Ms. Rolando inquired about the completion of the project. Ms. Kautz didn’t have an approximate date but stated it was expected to be at the end of June.
