Title

A Resolution authorizing a Change Order to the Historical Plazas and Entrances Restoration and Renovation contract with Red Door Construction, LLC, pursuant to Section 2-829, Approval of Change Order and Contract Modifications in the amount of $188,000.00 for work relating to two fountains restoration at the Coral Gables Branch Library.

Body

On June 14th, 2016, the City Commission approved the construction contract award to Red Door Construction LLC in the amount of $1,625,784.00 for the Historical Plazas and Entrances Restoration and Renovation project, as per Resolution 2014-147. 

 

On May 30th, 2017, the City Commission approved a change order in the amount of $175,000.00 to address unforeseen conditions relating to the Historical Plazas and Entrances Restoration and Renovation project.

 

An additional contract modification is required in order to address repairs of two fountains at the Coral Gables Branch Library.

 

These repairs include the following:

                     Plumbing/mechanical and electrical infrastructure of each fountain. Including directional drilling for new lines for new pump installation;

                     Structural repairs of fountains;

                     Fountains waterproofing;

                     Decorative tile and historic pavers replacement and refurbishing within each fountain;

                     Refurbishing of limestone and stucco by a Historic Preservation Contractor/Conservator.

 

The project team has worked collaboratively to negotiate fair pricing for this modification as well as a contingency amount of $30,000.00, included in the change order totaling $188,000.00.

 

The majority of the cost for these repairs will be will be reimbursed by Miami-Dade County with the exception of approximately $27,750, which will be funded through the Art Historic Fund.
