Title

Recognition of the Coral Gables Parks and Recreation Department receiving “Accreditation Status” from the National Recreation and Parks Association, awarded on October 4, 2016 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Body

The Coral Gables Parks & Recreation Department has been re-accredited by the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA). This serves as Coral Gables Parks & Recreation Department’s 4th successful reaccreditation process. Coral Gables Parks & Recreation is 1 of 19 departments in the country that holds both Class 1 Insurance Safety Office (ISO) Rating and Fire Accreditation; and only 1 of 5 in the State of Florida.

The accreditation process is a self-assessment process that is used to examine past, current and future service levels and performance.  All performance is compared to national and international industry’s best practices. This process leads to improved service delivery in Assessment and Planning, Essential Resources, External Systems Relations, Financial Resources, Goals and Objectives, Governance and Administration, Human Resources, Physical Resources, Programs and Training, and Competency.

This prestigious status promotes excellence within the organization; encourages quality improvement through a continuous self-assessment process; identifies areas of strength and weakness and a methodology for building on strong points and addressing deficiencies.
