Body
On August 25th, 2015, the City Commission approved the construction contract award to Florida Construction and Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $397,649.25 for the Kings Bay Streetscape Improvement project located at Permit Drive in the Kings Bay Community. This project consisted of the installation of new concrete pavers at the street intersections and water front; street side plazas and waterfront plaza with benches, planters and lighting; parking for golf carts; continuous compacted gravel and lush landscaping including irrigation.

The design of this project was the result of extensive collaboration with the Kings Bay Homeowners Association and the Association has remained very involved during the construction phase of the project. During this phase, it was discussed and recommended that certain modifications could further enhance this project for the community and additionally unforeseen structural issues were discovered. These enhancements can all be completed within the original budget amount and include the following:
• Reconfiguration of parking area to accommodate up to 12 golf carts;
• Expansion of the waterside plaza to accommodate the necessary and unforeseen removal of an existing sea grape tree including necessary sub-surface preparations;
• Installation of additional light poles to improve the night time aesthetics and safety.
