Congratulations to Firefighter Carlos Martinez, recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Firefighter of the Month Award,” for the month of May, 2016.

Firefighter Carlos Martinez has been selected May’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations, specifically for his creativity and craftsmanship. Without any prompting, Firefighter Martinez helped remodel the gym at Fire Station 2, has made several photo collages for the Stations, rebuilt the key hangers at Stations 1 & 2, and just completed a flag that hangs in the lobby at Station1 made out of old firehose. He is also in the process of restoring an old out of service pike pole for future display. Aside from being very talented, he is the kitchen manager and station cook for his shift. Firefighter Martinez’s dedication and his willingness to go out of his way to assist the department is worthy of this honor.
