Title

A Resolution authorizing the acceptance and execution of a grant from the 2016 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, to purchase customized Complete Child ID Kits and Child Safety Wristbands for distribution by the Police Department as part of a child safety initiative; further authorizing an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Annual Budget, to recognize the $10,000 grant funds as revenue and to appropriate such funds to cover the grant expenditures.

Body

The Coral Gables Police Department intends to use grant funds to purchase customized Complete Child ID Kits and Child Safety Wristbands from KidStar Safety for distribution as part of a child safety initiative.  Providing Child ID Kits to parents in the community will increase the information available to our agency and other law enforcement agencies around the country should a child go missing.

The State of Florida Department of Law Enforcement awarded the Coral Gables Police Department a 2016 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG-Direct) in the amount of $10,000 to purchase 8,000 customized Complete Child ID Kits and 8,000 Child Safety Wristbands for distribution throughout the community.

An amendment to the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Annual Budget is required to recognize the $10,000 grant funds as revenue and to appropriate such funds to cover the cost of the grant expenditures.
