Title
Presentation of a Neighborhood Renaissance Program Street Resurfacing Initiative for 2016, and a Resolution authorizing staff to proceed with such.
Body
In 2011, The City engaged the engineering firm of Stantec (formerly C3TS) to evaluate the condition of all City streets. Staff independently reviewed the streets and confirmed Stantec’s findings. As a result, the City paved approximately 30 lane miles identified as “definitely” or “strong maybe” in need of resurfacing through the Commission approved Neighborhood Renaissance Program (NRP). The first phase of this resurfacing program resulted in significant and much needed improvements to the City’s aging streets.
The paving program is funded by the reallocation of NRP funds. It will include $1,000,000 of resurfacing and is aimed to continue the elimination of the backlog of needs. Ultimately, the City will be able to stay current with street resurfacing needs as they arise. This initiative will not only improve neighborhoods, it should also enhance property values. The area of proposed work is shown in the attached map and will finish in early summer.
A presentation of the plan will be provided at this meeting.
