A Resolution authorizing a Piggyback Contract in accordance with Section 2-978 of the Procurement Code entitled, “Use Of Other Governmental Unit Contracts (Piggyback)”, with Dodec, Inc., from the City of Miami Gardens Professional Contractor’s Contract, pursuant to unit pricing to provide construction and maintenance repair services, to allow for repairs and improvements to the City of Coral Gables Memorial Youth Center facility, and other City facilities for a period running until July 31, 2017.

Body
On May 24, 2013, the City executed a Master Service Agreement - Addendum for a not to exceed amount of $600,000`with Dodec, Inc., a general contracting firm, for the City to piggyback their contract with the City of Miami Gardens. Under this Piggyback Contract the City used the services of Dodec, Inc., to perform timely repairs and improvements to Parking Garages 1 and 4 as well as the Public Safety Building, expending up to the not to exceed amount allowed under this contract. The $600,000 not to exceed amount is the contract spending limit without Commission approval for Piggyback Contracts for services under Section 2-978, Use Of Other Governmental Unit Contracts of the Procurement Code.

The City has once again the need for to hire a General Contractor to provide timely repairs and improvements to the Memorial Youth Center (Neighborhood Renaissance Project) and other facilities that can be expedited under this Piggyback Contract that has already been solicited by City of Miami Gardens. The new contract that would be authorized under this Resolution would allow for various repairs and construction projects as needed until July 31, 2017, would not be limited to $600,000, but what has been approved for these repair and improvement projects under the City’s Annual Operating Budget.
