Congratulations to Lieutenant Jack Kerns, recipient of the City of Coral Gables "Firefighter of the Month Award," for the month of October 2015.

Body

Lt. Jack Kerns has been selected October’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations, specifically by his role as one of the premier Emergency Medical Services (EMS) trainers in the area.  Lt. Kerns has trained countless paramedics in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma, 12-Lead and many other classes.    In addition he has served on the Protocol Committee for the last seven years and his inputs have improved the way we treat patients.  His common sense approach has always led to good outcomes and his teachings have produced some of the best paramedics in the area.  Lt. Kerns has become an EMS institution who has spent his entire career caring for patients and teaching paramedics.  We congratulate Lt. Kerns for his achievements in EMS and a career well spent
