Congratulations to Officer Daniel Sotolongo, recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Detective of the Quarter Award,” for the Second Quarter of 2015.

In 1966, the Kiwanis Club of Coral Gables created a program to honor the Coral Gables Officer of the Month, and the Coral Gables Police Officer of the Year. This year, they added an award to honor the Coral Gables Detective of the Quarter. Nominations from members and employees are received by the Coral Gables Police Department Awards Selection Committee (ASC). The Committee meets on a quarterly basis to discuss the nominations and select the Detective of the Quarter. The Detective of the Quarter is honored by the Kiwanis Club of Coral Gables with a plaque and a check at the Police Department’s Quarterly Ceremony. The Detective of the Quarter also receives gift certificates from various Coral Gables businesses, and eight (8) hours of annual leave from the City of Coral Gables.
