Title

A Resolution authorizing acceptance of a donation of a design for a sculpture by artist Luis Fernandez, locally known as Lugufelo, at the traffic circle at Red Road and Lugo Avenue; that the work be fully funded by the residents of Gables By The Sea, including maintenance; that the preferred color be orange or red; and that the base be submerged into the landscape.

Body

Artist Luis Fernandez, locally known as Lugufelo, has generously offered to donate a design and his fabricator is willing to donate services and materials for a sculpture to be installed at the traffic circle at Red Road and Lugo Avenue. He was born in Venezuela in 1966 and has resided in Miami for the past 17 years.

Lugufelo creates his monumental sculptures under a scientific paradigm of optical geometrics. His work is based on solid geometry of circles, triangles, and squares - either segmented or expanding an infinitum under an imaginary approach of Euclidean and Pythagorean formulations.

Below is the artist’s rendering of the piece at the location.

The proposal to install a sculpture by the artist was approved unanimously by the Arts Advisory Panel and the Cultural Development Board. It is subject to Miami Dade County approval.
