School Community Relations Committee Meeting of July 24, 2015.

- Discussion about the role of the Committee in relation to the School District
- Members expressed some frustration with the previous School Community Relations Committee, interactions with school board and the schools that their children attend
- Members expressed enthusiasm about the new Committee, the Commission’s commitment to education and progress made by the City thus far
- Committee would like to invite principals of schools to a future meeting and would like to invite school board staff to a future meeting
- Communication, namely modern electronic communication, was identified as an area in need of major improvement for several schools
- Board members expressed concerns that residents do not know controlled choice has ended- would like City to make more of an effort in getting the word out
- Discussed developing a “mission statement” or message for the Committee
- Aileen nominated Sam Joseph and Andrea seconded. The vote was unanimous.
