Title
A Resolution amending Resolution No. 30201, by revising the purpose, membership, qualifications and quorum requirement of the School Community Relations Committee.
Body
The School Community Relations Committee was established by Resolution No. 30201 on November 20, 2001. The Committee was created to represent the interests of Coral Gables Senior High School, Ponce De Leon Middle School and their surrounding neighborhoods. For the most part, it has served as a forum to address the concerns of neighbors residing in the vicinity of schools.

During the City's effort to do away with Controlled Choice, the community expressed a desire for the City to become more involved in its public schools, by finding ways to improve public school options, partner with the school board and support the success of George Washington Carver Elementary.

In response to community feedback, and because the Commission views excellent public school options as essential to resident's quality of life, this Resolution was developed to expand the role of the Committee to help ensure high performing public schools within the City and to recommend updates to the Education Compact with Miami Dade County Public Schools.

This Resolution will revise the Committee's purpose, composition, the qualifications of its membership, its quorum requirement. We believe these change will better position the Committee to succeed in its new role.
