Firefighter Carlo Milito has been selected May's Firefighter of the Month for his acts of concern and consideration in dealing with the public, specifically by his response to a medical emergency while off duty. At approximately midnight, while returning home from Miami Beach on MacArthur Causeway, Firefighter Milito came upon a multi-car accident and noticed a person lying in the middle of the street who was not breathing and had no pulse. Firefighter Milito immediately went to the victim's aid and initiated CPR, continuing for approximately 10 minutes until Miami Beach Fire Rescue arrived. He proceeded to assist the rescue crew until their departure to the trauma center.
Firefighter Milito displayed his thoughtfulness and care, choosing to stop and render aid at a critical moment.
