Title
Update on the Residential Sidewalk Restoration Program.
Body
On October 28th, 2014, the City Commission approved the Residential Sidewalk Restoration Program. This included authorizing 2 million dollars to repair damaged residential sidewalks, city-wide. An engineering evaluation estimated that approximately 250,000 square feet (ten linear miles) of sidewalks were in need of replacement.
Staff has procured the services of Metro Express Inc. through a continuing services contract to proceed with this work. Public Works staff have been surveying neighborhood sidewalks and identifying the sections in need of repair and replacement. Currently, Metro Express Inc. has multiple crews working on sidewalk replacement in an effort to complete all sidewalk repairs this fiscal year. We are on target to meet this goal.
Staff has prepared color coded maps indicating areas completed, surveyed, and future anticipated dates for work to commence in neighborhoods. This information is being added to the City's website. Staff will be prepared to present and discuss the status of the program at the February 24th Commission meeting.
