Since August 2002, Gomez Barker Associates, Inc. has provided successful legislative services, primarily at the state and local levels.
This proposed resolution authorizes waiving the requirements of the Procurement Code for the purpose of providing legislative services to the City. It authorizes an agreement with Gomez Barker Associates, Inc. for a one-year period in an amount not to exceed $6,250 per month, which is the current fee, with two one-year options to extend upon mutual agreement between both parties. The Procurement Code has been waived for previous contracts for legislative services awarded to Gomez Barker Associates, Inc.
Pursuant to Section 2-583(d) of the Procurement Code, the City Commission has the authority to waive any condition imposed by the provisions of the Procurement Code upon a four-fifths vote where it finds such waiver to be necessary in order to proceed with a contract, which is in the best interest of the City.
