A Resolution accepting the recommendation of the Chief Procurement Officer to extend the current Security Guard Services contract with World International Security, Inc., pursuant to Section 2-829 of the Procurement Code entitled "Approval of Change Orders and Contract Modifications", until October 31, 2014, and thereafter on a month to month basis until the IFB process is completed and a new contract is executed.
Body
On July 29, 2009, the City Commission approved a contract with World International Security, Inc., to run from August 27, 2009, through August 27, 2011 with a three (3) one (1) year renewal options with the last renewal period expiring August 27, 2014. This contract provides uniformed security guard services for the City's 2800 SW 72nd Avenue facility to deter any potential theft, vandalism, trespassers, or any activity which may damage City facilities or disrupt operations. In addition, this contract also provides security guard services as needed for various activities and events at other City facilities.
In order to provide time for the Invitation for Bids (IFB) process to be completed for a new contract to be approved, and to authorize an extension of the existing contract, it is recommended that the Security Guard Services contract with World International Security, Inc., be extended until October 31, 2014. The Security Guard Services Invitation for Bids process will run through September, 2014, with a recommendation being submitted to the City Commission for a new contract in October, 2014.
Under Section 2-829 of the Procurement Code entitled "Approval of Change Orders and Contract Modifications," the current contract with World International Security, Inc., may be extended by the Commission.
