Division Chief Robert Lowman has been selected June's Firefighter of the Month for his meritorious display of job performance, specifically by his response to a medical emergency while off duty. While running an errand early Saturday morning, Chief Lowman came upon a very serious motorcycle accident involving a young motorcyclist whose airway was severely compromised and was not breathing. Chief Lowman immediately went to the victim's aid and manipulated his airway open, all the while protecting what could have been a substantial spinal injury. Shortly after opening the airway, the motorcyclist started to breathe again. Chief Lowman's quick actions and expertise surely saved this person's life. These heroic actions are to be commended and are deserving of this recognition.
