Excused Absence: Motion made by Dr. Diaz and carried to excuse absent member Andrea Hanley. Minutes: A motion was made by Ruth Martinez to approve the Minutes from the September 2013 Meeting. They were approved without changes. Election of Chair and Vice Chair: Devang Desai was elected Chair and Andria Hanley was elected Vice Chair. Coral Gables Senior High (“CGSH”):
Dr. Diaz reported on fall interim assessment some of which are paper based and some are computer based. There are issues with how vendor is giving reports back to the school. The schools are not as comfortable with the data they are getting as to how to compare to what needs to be done with student based on feedback from the test. This is a new vendor for them.
On 12/10/13 there will be a show case for IB and Finance Magnet program. All six academies will be present for showing their programs. This is for parents and students from 6:30 - 8:30.
There will be an Articulation Breakfast on 12/12/13 for councilors and administrators from Middle Schools to come.
Coral Gables High is the district champions in Football. The Girls Swimming Team is district champions also.
Ponce Middle School (“PMS”):
Ponce Middle School’s enrollment increased to 1107. They had an IB Fair with about 300 parents and students. Ponce is having the same issues with new testing system data; they are still trying to make an assessment of where each student is. Ponce is working on facility improvements with funds from the Bond money given by the county. The wireless HUB systems been installed, but not turned on yet. When they do WiFi will be up and running. They have contractors coming through for bids for the punch lists that have been created from many years ago. The Turkey Bowl (flag football) will again be held on 11/27/13 at 1:30 PM.
