Resolution accepting the recommendation of the Chief Procurement Officer pursuant to Section 2-583 of the Procurement Code entitled “Application of the Code” to waive the Procurement Code to lease from Peterson’s Harley-Davidson of Miami, LLC, eleven (11) 2014 Harley-Davidson FLHP Motorcycles for a term of twenty-four (24) months.

The City’s two (2) year lease for Harley Davidson Motorcycles for the Police Department will expire on May 10, 2014. To provide sufficient time to order new motorcycles from the factory, Peterson’s Harley-Davidson of Miami, LLC, the only local dealership in Miami-Dade County, has proposed a new lease agreement to replace the current 2012 models with new 2014 models at the same pricing of $475 per month per motorcycle. The proposed new lease would be for a period of twenty-four (24) months, and would be under the same terms and conditions as the existing lease. The City’s cost for the two (20) year lease term will be $125,400. The agreement provides maintenance and repair coverage, including oil changes, replacement of tires, and no labor costs for maintenance and repairs. The only costs not included in lease agreement are the cost of parts for clutch repair or replacement and repair costs for physical damage as a result of vehicle accidents and other causes.
Other cities that have entered into the same lease agreement, including the monthly motorcycle lease price under a two (2) year replacement schedule in South Florida are as follows: Miami, North Miami Beach, Doral, Hollywood, Davie, and Homestead.
It is recommended by the Chief Procurement Officer that the Procurement Code be waived under Section 2-583 of the Procurement Code entitled “Application of the Code” to lease from Peterson’s Harley-Davidson of Miami, LLC, eleven (11) replacement Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, as they are the only local dealership in Miami-Dade County with authority from Harley-Davidson to lease to law enforcement agencies and to provide ...
