Communications Committee Meeting of January 16, 2014

The meeting came to order at 10 a.m. after a quorum was present.
Approval of minutes: The minutes from the December meeting were circulated for approval.
Motion: Luba De Witt motioned to approve the December meeting minutes. Connie Crowther seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Information Technology
Raimundo Rodulfo from the Information Technology Department made a presentation on the department’s technology and e-document initiatives. He spoke about the list of city-owned and managed domain names for city-related web sites. He reported the City is using QR codes which are being printed in various city materials and can be scanned by smartphones for information. He also demonstrated the city’s current website design.
Rodulfo also detailed the online service applications currently on the city’s website such as permits and inspections, property search, customer request management, accounts payable, utility billing, bid and quote online, job applicant online tracking, licensing online, and CLASS online registration for park classes. He demonstrated how to use some of these applications.
Rodulfo also talked about public records online services under Legistar for commission agendas and minutes, TRIM for legislations, agreements, ordinances and Police to Citizen (P2C) system for police records. Among the homegrown online systems Rodulfo spoke about where the GIS Online application, the e-News list serve, the search engines and other online forms and surveys.
Rodulfo also spoke about the upcoming Linked Open Government Data framework.Members congratulated Raimundo for the wealth of information provided about IT projects.
Higgins Fallon briefly updated members of upcoming programs such as the Jazz in the Gables, the free UM basketball tickets available for residents, and the upcoming Sundays on the Porch with George on February 9. With no further issues to discuss, the meeting was adjo...
