Congratulations to Lieutenant Eldad Simovitch, recipient of the City of Coral Gables "Firefighter of the Month Award," for the month of October 2026.

Lt. Simovitch has been selected as October's Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements, specifically for his hard work and dedication to the department.
Lieutenant Simovitch came upon a serious motor vehicle accident involving a motorcyclist who had been struck by another vehicle. Without hesitation he stopped and immediately began rendering aid to the injured rider. His willingness to act while off duty demonstrates the professionalism, compassion and dedication to public service that we expect from members of the fire service.
Lieutenant Simovitch's actions reflect great credit for himself and the department. Even before beginning his scheduled shift, he recognized someone in need and stepped in to provide care during a critical moment. His actions are an excellent example of what it means to serve our community both on and off duty.
Due to his outstanding work ethic and dedication to the department, Lieutenant Simovitch is nominated Firefighter of the month for October 2026.
