A Resolution of the City of Coral Gables, Florida, adopting the Local Mitigation Strategy of Miami-Dade County; and providing for an effective date.
Body
WHEREAS, Chapter 163, Florida Statutes, requires the City of Coral Gables to plan for hazard mitigation; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Community Affairs (the “DCA”) has designated the Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management as the local coordinator of the Local Mitigation Strategy Program for Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted the Local Mitigation Strategy Plan (the “LMS”) as official county policy to further promote program continuity and hazard mitigations projects in each municipality; and
WHEREAS, adoption of the LMS is required in order to obtain a Floodplain Management Plan activity credit and to improve the City’s standing under the Community Rating System (the “CRS) of the National Flood Insurance Program; and
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County adopted the updated LMS on September 01, 2015; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the adoption of the LMS is in the best interest of the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLBED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CORAL GABLES, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The foregoing Recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein by this reference.
SECTION 2. The City of Coral Gables hereby adopts Miami-Dade County’s 2015 Local Mitigation Strategy Plan.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon the date of passage and adoption herein.
