Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Coral Gables and the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida (M-DCPS) for the purpose of installing an informational web service kiosk at the City of Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center.

WHEREAS, as part of the Education Compact, the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida ("M-DCPS") is initiating a communications outreach program to benefit the citizens of Miami-Dade County. This outreach program will enable neighborhood parents and children to obtain information on-line through public accessible kiosks; and
WHEREAS, the School Board will pilot their kiosk at the City of Coral Gables' War Memorial Youth Center. This will be the school district's first informational kiosk in the county. Through this kiosk, the citizens of Coral Gables can access real-time School Board information through the Internet such as "informers" and programs like "The Parent Academy". Additionally, they can also access the City's website information; and
WHEREAS, this Memorandum of Understanding, by and between the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, and the City of Coral Gables, is being made for the mutual benefit of all parties for the purpose of installing an informational kiosk at the Coral Gables Youth Center located at 405 University Drive, Coral Gables, Florida 33134;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Commission authorizes the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Coral Gables and the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, for the purpose of installing an informational web service kiosk at the City of Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center.
